Stratix IV security anti tamper bit

Another simple one that wasn't wortyh raising and SR for.

I'm tasked with investigating design security for our Startix IV device.

Q. When using the non-volitile key aproach, if you set the tamper protection bit the Stratix FPGA will only accept an encrypted configuration file. I'm assuming here that this tamper protection bit, as is the case with the non-volitile key, cannot be unset. Would it defeat the object if it could?

    According to the document

    10. configuration, design security, and

remote system upgrades in stratix iv

    devices

which I cannot link to here because I don't have 5 posts (this is very stupid) setting the tamper protection bit is irreversible. Search the Altera site for this document to read it.
