Silly question about which PCIe slot the Stratix V GX FPGA Development Board can use

From the documentation for this boards it states it can fit in a x1, x4, and x8 PCIe slot (it doesn't mention a x16). A collegue called a sales rep about whether or not a x16 slot will work and he was told it must be a x8 slot.

I have a feeling that sales rep misunderstood (or my collegue did), but I want to make sure whether or not this board can fit and operate using a x16 slot.

Thanks!

Jason

    I have mine plugged into a x16 slot and it works fine.

    Actually, it looks like they're x16 connectors with x8 PCIe;

    Regardless, you should be fine.

    If you have issues detecting the board, try a soft-reset of your CPU. I forget whether this board meets the PCIe power-on timing requirement. I typically boot my host CPU, hit-ESC to stall it, download the FPGA via JTAG, and then allow the host boot to continue.

    Cheers,

    yes, should be fine in a x16 slot - thats what I put my arria2 dev board into (it only has x8)
