Sending data to FPGA - Need Help

In the past, I would use Nios+JTAG with download cable as the communication interface and use nios-console to write in values. Quartus now has features such as In-System memory editor and In-System Sources and Probes. Haven't tried them but I think which help you achieve what you want. Only need a download cable and Quartus.
