resize drawing

I am writing in hopes that you can help me resolve an issue. I have not been able to find an answer on any help or forum page.

The problem is that once I complete a schematic sheet, if the circuit occupies a quarter of the sheet, there is no way to scale the drawing to the printed page. Consequently, the circuit is a small blob in the corner of the sheet with unreadable information. Is there a way to resize the drawing sheet so that the circuit scales to fill the sheet and print accordingly?

    Hi, I suppose that you have some problems with your printer settings, because in QuartusII 9.1 there is no "sheet size" - the size is dynamic and the schematics is printed out at least on one whole page. You can choose, how many pages will the chematic occupy, but one whole page is minimum.

    The printer has various settings for scaling and such, which I tried all settings with the same result. I have schematic drawings which will fill the print page just fine. Other drawings on which I have panned in different directions to move symbols, effectively making the capture screen larger, are the ones that print WYSIWYG. Zooming the screen out to the max shows the logic tucked away in one corner of the screen, and that is the way it's printing.

    Zoom in on your schematic in Quartus -> hit print screen -> copy to paint -> print from paint.

    I also had issues with printing and Quartus, so I just 'solved' it like this :).

    Well, it is a slight improvement, but still not acceptable. All graphics, particularly net names and such text, looks blurry. It sure would be nice if the boys at Altera could do something about this in their next release.

    Shouldn't the problem be, that you have something (possibly very small or invisible) in the bottom right corner of the schematics? Then the Quartus should shrink the whole schematics, so this (wire, or text) would be also visible. Have you tried to hit Ctrl+A to highlight everything and search for something like that?

    I tried your suggestion, however nothing showed up in blue anywhere else on the screen other than the logic.

    I would like for someone with Quartus II v9.1, sp2, to try and create a drawing and insert any logic symbol and drag that symbol in all directions of the screen, leaving it in the lower right corner of the screen. Noticed how the vertical and horizontal scroll bars have shrunk in size, meaning that the drawing screen has gotten larger? Now do a Ctrl+W and notice how the symbol sits in the upper left corner of the screen. Do a Print preview to confirm this. Now, imagine a drawing with several large symbol blocks, interconnected with nets and with I/O symbols. In my case, it's a large drawing, however, a Ctrl+W shows this large schematic occupying a small portion o fthe drawing screen. Again, a Print Preview shows the circuit in dimutive form in the upper left corner of the Letter sized paper. Printing it confirms this.

    I would expect the large diagram to be scaled and centered in the screen after a Ctrl+W, and printing in similar manner, but such is not the case.

    Ok, I've tried that and everything works without any problem. When I hit Ctrl+W, the schematics is scaled over the whole screen. When I print it, it is printed over the whole paper.

    Maybe try to Copy and Paste the schematics to new file.

    Thanks for sticking this out with me. I tried your suggestion, but I get the same result. When the new block sheet opened, I clicked the cursor to identify the location where I wanted the drawing to be referenced. A Ctrl+W resulted in the large logic block occupying about 1/8 of the screen. Even the Zoom Toolbar has the resize drawing buttons disabled (grayed out). Could this be a general display parameter or option that is not set properly?

    Can you send me the BDF file? I could try if the problem is in the file, or if it is some problem on your computer.

    The posting rules says that I may post attachments but they keep getting rejected because the .bdf file is not a valid file type. How do I add the .bdf to the valid list?
