Quartus 9.1 sp2

It looks like a bug in Quartus. Unfortunately this version isn't supported any more.

Did you check with the RTL viewer after analysis and synthesis that the code you wrote was properly synthesized? You don't have any big loop that would generate a lot of logic?

i found it but i keep getting this error every time i try to compile a vhdl project

The 'solution' was to look here:

ftp://ftp.altera.com/outgoing/release

and I see the 9.1sp2 files are indeed in there.

It said that old version is no longer available for download. I think You should submit a request to download old version.
