PCIE to FPGA application register data transfer (Cyclone IV GX starter kit)

Hi all,

I have a Cyclone IV GX transceiver kit. As my "Hello World" equivalent of PCIE-HOST communication, I'd like to transfer 0xDEADBEEF to my FPGA application registers from my UNIX terminal/windows (UNIX preferred). How do I accomplish that.
