Nios programming to De2 board fails

Hi, I am using the Nios2 9.1sp2 to build my .c file. and then when I built the project with no problem and run simulation in Nios II instruction set simulator also no problem. However, when I try to run simulation using Nios II hardware, the following message shows. before this, the Hardware has been downloaded to the De2 board using programmer via USB blaster.

Using cable "USB-Blaster [USB-0]", device 1, instance 0x00

Pausing target processor: not responding.

Resetting and trying again: FAILED

Leaving target processor paused

May I know what are the possible causes for this problem.

    Few things to check.

Are you sure this design meets all the timings?

    Is the reset given correctly?

Is the CPU and main memory connected correctly?

Since you have done the simulation, I would guess the timing rather than the connectivity.

You might want to slows down the system and CPU clock speed just in case.
