NIOS II evaluation in web edition 12 linux

Sorry for starting a new thread, but I browsed many and didn't find anyone related to my problem.

I downloaded QUARTUS II web edition 12 for linux and installed correctly on my Ubuntu 12.04, so all brand new.

Following the nios 2 hardware tutorial downloaded from the altera website (tt_nios2_hardware_tutorial.pdf), I found that everything went smooth till the point where I have to generate the suggested nios2 embedded processor. QSYS seems to do the job, except that it fails at generating the IP block to include into the quartus II schematic.

I tried both versions of nios, the "e" and the "s", without success.

On the other hand, the windows version of the same web edition works out of the box, without issues.

Does anyone know what could cause this behaviour and how to solve the issue in Linux ?
