NIOS II 11.1 Compatibility Problem with Windows 8.1

Greetings!

I am using Nios II 11.1 64 bit on Windows 8.1 OS. I am facing problem while downloading program on the FPGA. While downloading the processor, the nios ii halts/hangs in the midway, not proceeding any further. I have tried to run it in compatibility modes but the problem is till there. Can anyone guide me regarding this problem?? Your valuable advice will be highly appreciated.
