8 years agoMAX7000 programmer and adapter
I maintain an old system and now need to program a CPLD (P/N EPM7064LC68-15) which is MAX7000 series. The programmer was Third party Data I/O model PS3900/3910L. Unfortunately both programmer and adapter were misplaced and can't be found. I checked Data I/O and the programmer is obsolete and not available.
I wonder if the programmer and adapter are available at Altera. Model numbers and sources.5 Replies

Hi,
You can buy USB blaster from Altera check the link https://www.altera.com/products/boards_and_kits/download-cables.html https://www.buyaltera.com/partdetail?partid=1212940 Or Buy from DigiKey/Terasic https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/t/terasic-tech/usb-blaster-cable For adapter https://www.terasic.com.tw/cgi-bin/page/archive.pl?language=english&categoryno=75#category76 Best Regards, Anand Raj Shankar (This message was posted on behalf of Intel Corporation) - Altera_Forum

Hi bluebox,
the mentioned device doesn't have capability of programming via serial JTAG interface. Therefore the Altera USB Blaster or Terasic Blaster cable are useless. For a programing support of the device from old MAX7000 family you will need a programmer with parallel programming protocol capability such as Altera Programming Unit or the 3rd party programmers such as BPM, Data IO, Elnec or System General. The appropriate programming adapter should be selected as well. For further information I would recommend to check the device family specification as well as an universal programmer documentation or device programmer's web search. https://www.altera.com/support/support-resources/support-centers/devices/programming-tools/tls-altera-apu.html https://www.altera.com/products/boards_and_kits/programming-adapters.html Best regards, Martin - Altera_Forum

One thing to note if you're using jtag programmers, make sure you get the 'S' version or you won't be able to program it. So the EPM7128SLC84 has JTAG, any others don't...
