Honored ContributorSome reference designs also use the MAX II for other functions beyond the configuration needs.
Check out the entire reference design (one-wire perhaps) and you may see that swithces, LED, etc are also routed to the MAX II. You do not need that I suspect. As long as you have enough to do the addressing and data and control, you should be good to go.
