Is the flash device MT25QL02GCBB supported for Cyclone V HPS?

Question

Hi,we have a Cyclone V SoC design that will be running Linux on the HPS. We will need a 2 Gbit flash device and were considering this: MT25QL02GCBB. The MT25QL01GBBB8ESF-0SIT seems to be supported according to the "Supported Flash Devices for Cyclone® V SoC and Arria® V SoC" page. Do you think the MT25QL02GCBB would work as well or are there any limitations to the type of flash that prohibits this device?Regards,Oddgeir

Hi Oddgeir,Using the non-listed flash devices is not recommended. However it may work, but based on my experiences its likely that you will encounter U-boot issues during boot up.

Thank you for the quick response. I think we will try to mount the 2Gb device on at least one of the prototype boards so we can test it.

The only other QSPI 2Gb device (MT25QU02GCBB8E12-0SIT) on the list has the comment:

"U-Boot modifications needed"

Do you have any details to share about what needs to be changed? We probably need to do the same or similar for the chosen device as well.
