Honored ContributorGates are pretty meaningless now, like chipslinger says, all the LUTs have four inputs so each LUT can hold between one and several "gates". But a cyclone IV will have way more logic than a flex 6k, embedded multipliers and tons of ram.
For a straight replacement, a max V might be more appropriate.
