Altera Installer for Windows

Where exactly does one find this?

I'm trying to create an automated install Quartus. Based on my readings of the Installation and Licensing manual, I would require to either use the self extracting zip files, or the Altera Installer. According to the instructions I should "Launch the Altera Installer from the Download Center of the Altera website." When I explore the download section, the only thing I seem to be able to find are the stand alone executables. Where exactly does one find the Altera Installer for download?

download the small (~20MB or so) web-based installer. you can then choose the Altera tools to download and not install

i was doing an install this evening and noticed that it looks like they have taken away the file i was talking about

try http://software.altera.com, there is a bigger variety of download types over there including the web-based installer

Altera web team, what's going on with the download center?

Well this explains why the person I was telling to use the web installer was all confused.....

Thought I was golden there for a bit. I went to the software download library and I grabbed altera_installer.external.exe. I thought that was the right file. When I execute it manually, it presents me with 2 options. To install from a specific source or to pull files from the internet. I had 2 problems with this.

First, despite me thinking I have the right file, none of the command lines from the KB article downloading and installing software at the command prompt work at all. Not even --help or -h.

Secondly, if I try to run through this installation manually just to see how it works, I point to my source where I have:

    11.0sp1_quartus_windows.exe

    11.0sp1_devices1_windows.exe

    11.0sp1_devices2_windows.exe

And it says that I have no valid installation files there. No idea where to go from here.

Hmmm... apparently the files I already have are the self extracting Zip files. I'm gonna see if I can get an automated install running with those in the mean time.

Okay, maybe not. None of the command lines from the installing software with self-extracting installers work either. Regardless of what command line I use, I get the GUI for the unzip.

Either I'm completely lost, or the documentation in the KB thus far is pretty worthless.
