ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Quartus compile error after upgrade from Quartus 16.0 to 21.1 One more thing. Perhaps this will help. Also see my 11-29-2021 06:39 AM reply. The date is later than yours, but it is listed as an earlier post. In Quartus 16.0 the "DDR3 supporting UniPHY" controller is listed as part of the Altera IP Base Suite in the license file (see below). # The following is a license file for the Altera IP Base Suite (FFT, NCO, DDR / DDR2 # SDRAM, DDR / DDR2 / DDR3 SDRAM supporting ALTMEMPHY, DDR2 / DDR3 supporting UniPHY, # RLDRAM II, RLDRAM II supporting UniPHY, QDRII, QDRII / II+ supporting UNiPHY, FIR # Compiler II, LPDDR2) It is not listed as part of the Base IP Suite in the license file for Quartus Standard 21.1 (see below). # The following is a license file for the IP Base Suite Package part number for IP # Base Suite (NCO, FFT, FIR Compiler II) Quartus Standard 21.1 apparently allows me to upgrade the DDR3LP controller since it does not issue any errors when I do the upgrade, only later when I try to compile. Perhaps this is a clue. Re: Quartus compile error after upgrade from Quartus 16.0 to 21.1 I copied the directory containing the project using Windows 10 File Explorer to a new directory name, then opened the copied project in Quartus 21.1 Std to do the upgrade and continued from there. I was on vacation 11/14-19/2021. So I picked this up again before thanksgiving vacation. Last week, among other tasks that I had to address after vacation, I wrote a stub file that could be used in place of the DDR3LP DRAM controller for a compile test only. It is not a working DRAM controller. But it did allow me to test if there were other errors that were not visible because of the DRAM controller error being present. Quartus ran to completion. No errors. I do not have an answer yet. Re: Quartus compile error after upgrade from Quartus 16.0 to 21.1 Yes, that was part of my upgrade. Specifically, I copied the entire design directory for the 16.0 design to a new directory with a new name. Opened it with Quartus 21.1 Std, allowed it to overwrite the older version files, then upgraded all the IP including this one from 16.0 to 21.1 except for 1 megacell that was listed as upgrade optional. Then when I started the compile I got the error. Quartus compile error after upgrade from Quartus 16.0 to 21.1 Quartus issued the following compile error after upgrading a design that compiled correctly with Quartus 16.0 Std to 21.1 Std, "12006 Node instance ".." instantiates undefined entity "..". Ensure that required library paths are specified correctly,..." The node instance that caused a problem was a "DDR3 SDRAM Controller with UniPHY Intel FPGA IP" component for Cyclone V GX. It is listed in the IP Catalog even after the upgrade. But I did not specifically download 21.1 IP for it. What do I need to do to fix this? Re: access to on-demand training An update to 32-bit Firefox was installed since my last reply. It now works too. Re: ModelSim license for Quartus Standard Edition I got this reply from an Intel employee this week on a related post. So the question is answered, and no further responses are needed. If you do not mind to wait for a while, the Quartus Standard 21.1 is plan to release by next week, along with the Questa - Intel FPGA Edition. Then you can use the Questa - Intel FPGA Edition tool for your simulation. ModelSim license for Quartus Standard Edition If we order a new license for Quartus Pro Edition and Questa - Intel FPGA Edition, will we still get a new license both for Quartus Standard Edition and for ModelSim - Intel Edition with it? Also, can we still order a new license for Quartus Standard Edition and ModelSim - Intel Edition alone? If neither of these are possible, with Questa replacing ModelSim, how can we simulate designs for FPGAs synthesized by the Quartus Standard Edition but not by Quartus Pro Edition? SolvedQuesta - Intel FPGA Edition support for Quartus Standard Edition How will simulation of FPGAs supported by Quartus Standard Edition be possible with Questa - Intel FPGA Edition replacing ModelSim - Intel Edition? The latest version of Quartus Standard Edition on the download page is 20.1.1 with ModelSim, not Questa. We need simulation for Cyclone V, and various MegaCores implemented in Cyclone V, including the Triple Speed Ethernet MAC MegaCore, and the DDR3 SDRAM Controller with UniPHY, and others for 1 design. The Ethernet controller is a separate license. The DDR3 controller is part of the IP Base Suite Package. We need support for Cyclone IV and Max-10 for other designs. We cannot use ModelSim because our license has expired and new ModelSim licenses apparently are not available. SolvedRe: access to on-demand training Company policy is to install only the 32-bit version of Firefox on all corporate PCs. All PCs used for development are 64-bit, but there are some old 32-bit PCs in the lab used to run compiled test programs or other less demanding tasks. Using a single browser on all PCs simplifies managing them. I normally work in the office these days, but I am working remotely from home today. I tried clicking the link on my home PC running 64-bit Firefox. There was no error, but I did not try running the class, since I have other work to do now. I also tried using Edge, again on my home PC, and got to the "ABOUT THIS COURSE" and "FILES" page without an error. I also got that far on Chrome. So it is a browser specific problem. Re: access to on-demand training I need to add more information. Once I was at "Intel FPGA Technical Training Catalog" with the filters "On-Demand Training" and "Quartus Design Flow" turned on, there was 177 results. I clicked on "Command Line Scripting" ID 652860 and I got this error. The requested URL was rejected. Please consult with your administrator.
