Why is VHDL rotate_left synthesized incorrectly in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software?

Description

Due to a problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro  Edition Software version 21.1 and earlier, you may see VHDL rotate_left(data, distance) is synthesized incorrectly when data width is not a power of 2 and distance is more than 2^8.

Resolution

There is no workaround for this problem.

This problem is fixed starting with the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 21.2.
