Why doesn't my NIOS II recognize the HPS interface as a memory when it attached via Address Span Extender?
Description
In the Quartus® II software version 14.0, when the Address Span Extender is fixed ("Disable Slave Control Port" is "true"), the NIOS® II will see the Address Span Extender component as a bridge.
The reason why NIOS® II can't see the HPS interface is because the NIOS® II doesn't recognize it as a memory because it is technically a bridge.
Resolution
To work around this problem, set Address Span Extender "Disable Slave Control Port" to "false" and apply the workaround in the related KDB solution http://www.niosii.net/support/kdb/solutions/rd03182014_17.html
This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Quartus II software / SoC EDS.
