Why does my Arria V GZ Nios II design fail to boot up in V13.1 and V14.0

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software version 13.1 and version 14.0, Nios® II designs targeting Arria V GZ devices using the EPCS IP may not boot correctly.

Resolution

To work around this problem follow the steps below:

1. Open /ip/altera/sopc_builder_ip/altera_avalon_epcs_flash_controller/em_epcs_qsys.pm file in a text editor.
2. Remove "( eq "ARRIAVGZ") ||", Arria V GZ device from the condition check logic at line 699.

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Quartus® II software.
