Why can't I launch Modelsim-Altera Starter Edition without a license?

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software version 14.1, you are prompted for a license for the full edition license when you invoke Modelsim-Altera Starter edition. This is not the intended behavior.

Resolution

To work around this problem, download and install patch 0.01m from the links below.

• Download the version 14.1 patch 0.01m for Windows (.exe)
• Download the version 14.1 patch 0.01m for Linux (.run)
• Download the Readme for the Quartus II software version 14.1 patch 0.01m (.txt)

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Quartus II software.
