Why are HPS power rails in the Agilex™ 3 FPGA C-Series 135B Non-HPS Development Kit (Production) RevB Board Schematic

Description

The Agilex™ 3 FPGA C-Series Development Kit is a non-HPS development Kit. However, the Agilex™ 3 FPGA C-Series 135B Non-HPS Development Kit (Production) RevB Board Schematic has multiple pages related to HPS, and all HPS-related components have been commented out except for the HPS power rails.

Resolution

The Agilex™ 3 FPGA C-Series Development Kit has two versions: Agilex™ 3 FPGA C-Series Development Kit and Agilex™ 3 FPGA and SoC C-Series Development Kit.

The Agilex™ 3 FPGA C-Series Development Kit is a Non-HPS Development Kit version. However, its schematic Agilex™ 3 FPGA C-Series 135B Non-HPS Development Kit (Production) RevB Board Schematic is designed to accommodate both HPS and non-HPS enabled Agilex™ 3 FPGA devices. As a result, all HPS power rails on the Agilex™ 3 Devkit board are powered up by default. Using non-HPS-enabled devices on this Agilex™ 3 FPGA Devkit will not impact the board functionality or reliability.

The Agilex™ 3 FPGA and SoC C-Series Development Kit's schematic is different from the Agilex™ 3 FPGA C-Series Development Kit. A separate schematic file for this board version will be released.
