Is it possible to use an IOPLL from a bank not available in an Intel® Arria®10 device?
Description
Yes, it is possible to use an IOPLL from a bank that is unavailable in an Intel® Arria® 10 device.
For example, the 10AS066 device in an F34 package does not have banks 2H, 2G, 3G, and 3H available, but you can use the IOPLL in these banks, provided it is driven by the global clock network.
Resolution
Bear in mind the following guidance from the Intel® Arria® 10 Core Fabric and General Purpose I/O Handbook (PDF) :
Driving a PLL over a global or regional clock can lead to higher jitter at the PLL input, and the PLL will not be able to fully compensate for the global or regional clock. Therefore, Altera recommends using the dedicated clock input pins for optimal performance to drive the PLLs.
