IP regeneration feature does not automatically update Qsys systems with PCI express cores

Description

If you used a version of Qsys that was prior to version 12.1 to create a design with a PCI express (PCIe) intellectual property (IP) core, the Regenerate IP Component feature in the Quartus II software cannot automatically detect and update the PCIe IP core to the current version. Qsys systems must be upgraded manually because compilation errors might occur with outdated PCIe IP cores.

Resolution

Prior to compilation, you must regenerate the Qsys system. With your project opened in the Quartus II software, click Qsys on the Tools menu to open the Qsys window. Click the Generation tab. On the Generation tab, click the Generate button.
