Help abt the Quartus tool!

Hej!

I have some questions abt the time limited sof file. y time limited sof file is generated instead of the simple file. How this can be avoided because I want to burn my .sof file in the EPCS device but it cant be stored in there since it is time limited. Is that because of the license problem. or something else. Because once during my course in the university I was using the Quartus version 7.2 and there was no issue like this..but now I am using 9.2 cracked version ..is that so?

My understanding is that time-limited programming files is to do with licencing issues. You get sof/pof as usual and can store them as usual but can't get the fpga working for a time more than set time, so it is just for flavor testing...you may try them for aeroplanes and see the proof...

The compilation messages should tell you which core it is that you are using that you don't have a license for. No license means you get a time limited sof.

By the way, you shouldn't be using a cracked version. It's illegal.

I'm pretty sure the Nios II is time limited and or you need to be hooked up to jtag constantly. It's not free, only free for development. If you are going to be using it in a design that you sell or distribute you're going to be paying 500 or 800 dollars or so to buy the rights to use the core in a design.

Nios II is not freely licensed, but is available for evaluation through opencore. The Altera site says:

    "licensing

No license keys are required for OpenCore Plus hardware evaluation of Altera IP cores. Third-party IP cores are delivered by the partner for evaluation with the appropriate license key.

Altera offers MegaCore functions on a per-seat, perpetual basis. The license fee includes first year maintenance and support. You must renew the maintenance contract to receive updates, bug fixes, and technical support beyond the first year.

You must obtain a full license for the Altera MegaCore IP core or Nios II processor core to generate non-time-limited programming files. To obtain a license file, contact your local altera representative (http://www.alteraforum.com/corporate/contact/con-index.html) or altera tools support (http://www.alteraforum.com/corporate/contact/info/con-phone.html)"

You say you are using a cracked version of Quartus. This is illegal and I suggest you stop using cracked software and posting questions about it. Alteraforum does not promote illegal use of vendor tools and products.
