use of megafunction ALTGX

Hello,

I'm working with Quartus 10.1,

I want to creat a ALTGX function, but I can't choose this. It stands in grey.

Does someone know what I can do, so I can use this function?

It's for creating a SERDES.

Best regards

What device family are you targeting? The ALTGX MegaFunction is only for Cyclone IV and Stratix IV I believe. Anyway, if your looking to implement a SERDES, then you most likely want to use ALTLVDS_RX and/or ALTLVDS_TX.

    It's not true.

AltGX shall be on Cyclone IV and all stratix GX family and Arria Family (and maybe someone else I've forgot to mention)

We can simulate a ALTGX function that is made by someone else,

but we can't make an own function with this...

Because of we don't have to right libs or something like that?

No: ALTGX infer a physical object of the FPGA.

Not all FPGA have this features.

It's not VHDL that will be syntetized.
