Selection of high speed ADC and FPGA

Question

Hello,

I'm new to the FPGA world and I'm looking for the right FPGA evaluation kit that can interface with a high speed ADC with at least 6 channels and 100MSPS. I've found the linear technology ADC LTM9010 which has a serial LVDS output and fulfills the requirements. I've also found the Cyclone V GT FPGA Development Kit which seems to have an LVDS port as well. But I'm not sure whether these two options are compatible with each other. Any recommendations will be appreciated.

I think cyclone V E series should be OK for you. For all the current generation FPGA, they all support lvds.

The ADC you selected has 8 channels. The question is that can you implement only one LVDS module or 8 independent LVDS modules inside FPGA? According the ADC datasheet, it seems you need two LVDS module for one ADC chip at least.

Linear may have some development boards that connect to Altera's development boards over an hsmc connector. These seem like are made by Arrow. Check out page 25.

If you plan to use DPA, make sure you get an altera dev board that has hsmc connections to the DPA SERDES i/os on the fpga. Based on my limited experience, I would hazard a guess that if you cannot find dev boards with the devices of your choice, select the dev board with the fpga from the family of your choice and get an A/D board with digital interface that is similar to what you will be using.
