reg fpga transeivers

hi 1.i want to know about basic functions of ALTERA Fpga transceivers. 2.is it useful for entire speed range 1GBs to 3GBs(i.e 1.44 or 2.6 GBs)

Which FPGA? If you go to the litterature page on the Altera site for any device with high speed transceivers (Aria, Cyclone IV, Stratix) you'll find a section specifically about the transceivers.
