Tschaggelar, just need to clarify this info. This is all new to me.

After the one year, we are required to extend.

After that extension, the license is perpetual? no more extension cost involved?

After 1 year. your license will expire, and you will need to renew it.

If you use the certificate, then you can get a full version (and full license) for a reduced price.

The current deal with Kit version fo the Quartus tools is that they come with a 1 year, then it dies license. THis is different then the Full Subscription version fo the tool or the Free WEB version fo the tool.

Free WEB version - limited parts set.

Kit version - Full version with 1 year limit on license - hard stop

Full Version - all parts and a few more features - license for 1 year, then you can extend with NO new features (parts) perpetually or resubscribe (re-up) each year.
