Thank you again for the valuable advice. I think you are right, however I end up using (or not using) the tools, this is the easiest way in. I am still not sold on the need for the FPGA and time/money is of the essence. I think an ARM micro running at 120MHz may be just fine. I will have to do some number crunching to find out. I will be a bit disappointed if the micro is ok as I am interested in learning technology that is new to me.... Rich
