Maximum PCB trace length for transceiver of Arria V GZ to SFP/QSFP connector module?

Dear All

Do you know how far the maximum trace length from transceiver of Arria V Gz to SFP+/QSFP?

Regards,

    Hi,

Depends on a lot of things:

    1) The data rate. 1 Gb/s will go farther than 10 Gb/s. Since you're asking about SFP+ and using a GZ part I'm assuming you're using a high data rate.

    2) The structure of the PCB. I'm assuming the PCB will be designed with controlled impedance tracking, good ground planes, attention to crosstalk, etc.

With careful attention to detail I would expect you could get a length of 3-5 inches to work without too much trouble. As always, careful simulation of the actual conditions will give you a handle on things.

    Mark.
