MAX10 Instant-On

Hi

I'm working on a custom board containing a MAX10 FPGA (10M50SAE144C8G). I thought it would be nice to use the instant-on feature. When I started the design, I found the following information which I thought is relevant:

In the MAX 10 Power Management User Guide ( https://www.altera.com/content/dam/altera-www/global/en_us/pdfs/literature/hb/max-10/ug_m10_pwr.pdf):

--- Quote Start ---

VCCIO must ramp up to full rail before VCCA and VCC_ONE start ramping

--- Quote End ---

However, in the current document revision (2016.05.02) I can’t find this information anymore. The revision history mentions:

--- Quote Start ---

Updated the information for the single-supply device in the Instant-On Power-Up Sequence Requirement table.

--- Quote End ---

Furthermore, in the current revision of the MAX 10 FPGA Configuration User Guide (2016.05.13) https://www.altera.com/en_us/pdfs/literature/hb/max-10/ug_m10_config.pdf (https://www.altera.com/en_us/pdfs/literature/hb/max-10/ug_m10_config.pdf)

they removed the information about the instant on feature.

--- Quote Start ---

Removed Instant ON feature.

--- Quote End ---

Why does Altera remove this relevant information from the documents? Is there a problem with this feature?

Thanks and with best regards

Chris

I see the reference, in the configuration user guide, to the feature being removed. However, it's still referred to in the latest datasheet and discussed in the Power Management Guide. So, Altera seem to have been inconsistent. You'll need to raise a ticket via myaltera (https://www.altera.com/mal-all/mal-signin.html) and ask Altera. Point out the inconsistencies.

    Cheers,

You just need to comply with latest document. This restriction is relaxed.
