Load configuration data from EPCS error

Hi, all, here is my question.

I apply the step from 'alterahelp' or some website, all is right except when power on, its LCD display one line of black boxes which maybe something wrong. What's funny is when I press the fatory config. switch, and then press the reset config. switch, the LCD work right.

Does anyone know this? How to be displayed normally when power on?

    I had such a case. I used my own LCD 1*16 characters driver (only in VHDL, no NIOS).

    I have to configure properly with the good instructions of Number of rows, number of lines, Home address... which are different from datasheet. I tried different config and found the good.

    Yes, It should be something wrong. My board is NIOS II EP2C35.

    Does anyone know such a case?

    sounds like you failed to get the nios program onto the epcs device
