13 years agoInstalling Quartus and ModelSim
Hello,
I am new to the products and am the SA who is installing them on a LINUX server. We run on a closed network so I downloaded the 2 products we have purchased (Quartus and ModelSim), moved them via DVD to the server. I gunzip and untar the downloaded files and used the altera_installer.external.sh to start the install. The install works but my issue is it will only install one product and when I try to install the other product I received the following error: the directory does not contain the modelsim-altera edition - installed installers. specify a valid installer directory. In this example, I installed ModelSim, ran the update command (altera_installer_cmd --update --gui), choose to modify the installation, marked Quartus, install directory (/12.1_177_quartus_linux), browsed to destination directory and after hitting next received the above error message. I'm assuming by directory structure needs to be different but I'm not sure what to change. I have both the 12.1_177_quartus_linux and the 12.1_177_modelsim_ae_linux in the same directory /Altera/ver12. The documentation makes it sound like you can add components to an installation. Thanks for the information.
