I2S Interface for Cyclone IV E Processor

Hallo

So for the project we want to use an Cyclone IV E processor and make up the development board on our own. So we are trying to make a custom development board with our input and output interface

For the input we want use the I2S interface. My question is how can i configure or make this interface for communicating with the FPGA

I am using simulink and hdl coder with Altera Quatras 2, for generation and synthesis of VHDL code. So should i make a block using vhdl or simulink library to configure the I2S interface and connect its output to my simulink model.

Or should i make the I2S interface in hardware and then connect its output to one of the input pins of my FPGA, and then configure this pin as my input pin from the HDL coder.
