You should check the suggested trivial open drain method. We can continue the discussion if it doesn't work.

The Remote Update IP comes into play if alternative configurations (e. g. a factory or fall-back and a user configuration) are needed. Cause Cyclone 1 doesn't support a selection of multiple configurations from a configuration image (it misses the selection inputs), the MegaFunction is useless here.
