Funtionally Compatibility

I am a buyer with a question. Need to know if the replacement is "functionally compatible" to the original:

Original: EPM7096LC84-15

Replacement: EPM7128SLC84-15

Thanks, Ed Johnson

No. The first one has 96 macrocells and the second one has 128. The programming file of the first will not go into the second. Since the second has more logic, it would most likely be possible to target the original design for this second device and create a new programming file. Although not too difficult, it would require the original project and some engineering time, plus some testing. But the short answer is no, they are not compatible.
