EPCS16 application data without NIOS

Hello,

I am searching a way to read/write data from/to the configuration flash (EPCS16) without using NIOS.

Is it necessary to use the "EPCS serial flash controller core"? Is there another way to access the configuration flash?

If there is another way, where can I find it (I have not found it so far)?

    I'm not sure about this, but if you set the EPCS pins as I/O after configuration you could implement some kind of SPI controller to access it.
