DDR2 with CYCLONE IV E series

Hi,

I will design a board. I want to use either Cyclone III (EP3C120F780I7N) or Cyclone IV E (EP4CE115F29I7N) series FPGA.

I have seen that there lots of boards which include Cyclone III and DDR2. However I have not seen anyboard includes Cyclone IV and DDR2. Is it possible to drive DDR2 with Cyclone IV as in the case Cyclone III?

If it is possible, maximum at what speed rate DDR2 can I use with Cyclone IV? also for Cyclone III?

Is there a memory you can suggest me?

and Which Fpga you can suggest me to use from these two?

Thank you,

It is the same DDR2 specification for CY3 or CY4.

I use EP4C75 with MT47H16 on my board, like CY3 FPGA DEV -DK63C120-.

The max speed depend on the speed grade of the FPGA :

    C7: DDR2-333 (167MHz)

    C6: DDR0-400 (200MHz)

Just be carefull with PIN assignment of the DQ group :(DQS,DM, DQx) should be connect to the same group.

More over you should be carefull with the routing, because all tracks must have the same length.

    Good luck

did you use the cyclone 4 E series? and did DDR2 successfully worked ?:)
