Creating counter with State Machine Editor

Hello,

I am attempting to create my own counter using the State Machine editor because I want this counter to cycle through all values only once before resting in an "idle" state. I was wondering if it is possible to create a state machine that changes states on clock cycles, or if I am expecting more than the State Machine Editor can do? Thanks.
