CPLD family recommendation for new designs

I'm working on a new CPLD based design and the sales reps have been pushing me towards the MAX-II family which looks good to me from a technical perspective. The only problem is that my client would like a leaded package (no BGAs) but requires a high pin count. The leaded part requirement pushes me out of the MAX-II family because the highest pin count MAX-II leaded part is the 144 pin package.

I could use a MAX 3000A family part but I'm wondering if this will be going end of life soon. My client is currently in an end of life situation on his current Cypress CPLD solution and I don't want to design him into another end of life situation.

Does anyone know the current plans for the Altera CPLD familes and which ones are being recommended for new designs?
