Communication between PC and FPGA kit with ethernet phy chip

Hello,

I need to read data off of a Stratix IV GT via the on board Ethernet port. That is, from a s4gt to a Marvel 88E1111, then to the PC. One direction, reasonable rate (Mbps).

I have some working knowledge in VHDL and Labview.

My questions are, can I simply program the hardware? do I have to implement NIOS processor and TSE megafunction? Does Marvel offer a Labview driver or library?
