AR_Intel has replied in many of the other threads (but oddly not this one) that the license server is fixed. I had to negotiate the new login process via Intel Azure to get to the self-service center however I did that and re-generated the license (there's a button somewhere) and the new license file I received DOES have proper feature information in it. I haven't yet had a chance to go test it on my server box but it certainly looks very promising. So anyone following along on this thread, please go back to the self-service center and regenerate your license file and see if it fixes it. Re: Renew Questa (starter) license after it is expired https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-FPGA-Software-Installation/Has-anyone-succeeded-running-Questa-Starter-with-license-file/td-p/1329811 there's loads of us having the same issue. The Intel self-service portal is generating blank license files and Intel needs to fix it. Re: Questa Starter Edition - unable to checkout license - path defined properly, verified by tool Do you also have a blank license file like the rest of us .. check https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-FPGA-Software-Installation/Has-anyone-succeeded-running-Questa-Starter-with-license-file/td-p/1329811/page/2 Re: Unable to checkout a license. Make sure your license file environment variables are set correctly an There's quite a few posted in the other thread where people were asking questions. But here's mine again. (note I had to change the extension to .txt to get it to attach here). And thanks for looking in, there's a lot of people failing to get questa licensed. Re: Cannot Launch Questa Starter Edition : Unable to checkout a license. do you have the same issue the rest of us have here https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-FPGA-Software-Installation/Has-anyone-succeeded-running-Questa-Starter-with-license-file/m-p/1453450#M4625 .. a license file with only comments in it and no actual license? If so can you also post in that thread, if enough people report the same thing perhaps it will get looked at. Re: Unable to checkout a license. Make sure your license file environment variables are set correctly an well how about put a comment in that other thread. I was hoping if we get enough people posting in there with the same issue that someone from Intel will look and go fix the license portal. Re: Unable to checkout a license. Make sure your license file environment variables are set correctly an have you looked at the license file to see if it's actually got a license in it? There are several of us in this thread https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-FPGA-Software-Installation/Has-anyone-succeeded-running-Questa-Starter-with-license-file/td-p/1329811/emcs_t/S2h8ZW1haWx8dG9waWNfc3Vic2NyaXB0aW9ufExEUVBZMlJGTVk1NkhHfDE0NTM0NDN8U1VCU0NSSVBUSU9OU3xoSw who found the license files from the self-service license center have no actual license lines, just comments. Re: Has anyone succeeded running Questa Starter with license file? and just to add one more datapoint for anyone who comes here .. this is a snippet of an example license file from Intel's support site ####################################################################### # FEATURE START # The following is a license file for the Quartus PRIME PRO Edition Fixed # Number of seat licenses is 1 # No license expiration date FEATURE maxplus2 alterad 2021.05 permanent uncounted B36133371D28 \ HOSTID=e4a4716b48d8 SIGN="1A0F EECF 699E A64A 1E3A 83D1 BADC \ 7763 B15D 98FA EF7F A371 E02F 4D9F D9CF 0BCE 2A9C 2650 20FA \ 42CF ABD8 006A D037 DA2C 703B 9CFC 43E5 1A01 0C56 4D6D" FEATURE quartus_pro alterad 2021.05 permanent uncounted 46499B9E717E \ HOSTID=e4a4716b48d8 TS_OK SIGN="08EF B762 CF6A 18CC FF95 B124 \ 2FB0 F8F0 7A43 CAFE C88E DC28 5AC4 5F69 FFFB 1C1C DBF6 7A79 \ 87E7 FFEF D8C2 F96F 461A 0D38 DB4B 4E5B 840E F3F6 F314 4DE9" # FEATURE END this is what it's SUPPOSED to look like. Obviously this license file is for a different product and is just an example but yes I think we can reasonably accurately state that the self-service portal is emailing out totally bogus license files. So it's just not going to work. Re: Has anyone succeeded running Questa Starter with license file? Having checked out a few other posts here it seems fairly likely that many people are seeing the exact same issue, we're all just getting blank license files. Is there actually a place to get some support or because it's a free license the only support is to post here and hope an Intel employee take pity on us? For my part I've moved back to modelsim using a post from 2 years ago telling you how to get it to run in a 64 bit operating system but that's honestly pretty sad. I've also posted my 'license' file here in the hope that an employee looking at the thread will have plenty of examples to send to the license team to get the license server fixed. And yes I tried lots of different things which is why I now have 3 non-licenses in there. I think we're all agreed here now that those license files are all comments and there are no actual license lines in them. # Intel Corporation Software and/or Intellectual Property License File # Issued 03 February 2023 # Upgrade to these products will no longer be available after the Maintenance Expiration # date unless licenses are renewed. # Fixed Node License # Primary Machine Name-****** # Primary Machine ID-NIC ID ****************** # Companion ID-N/A # Companion ID 2-N/A # Product License Summary: # Questasim*-Intel FPGA Starter Edition, 1 Seat(s) # - Maintenance Expiration of 2024.02 # - License Expires 03-Feb-2024 # Questasim*-Intel FPGA Starter Edition, 1 Seat(s) # - Maintenance Expiration of 2024.02 # - License Expires 03-Feb-2024 # Questasim*-Intel FPGA Starter Edition, 1 Seat(s) # - Maintenance Expiration of 2024.02 # - License Expires 03-Feb-2024 ################################################################################ # FEATURE START # This is license file for Questasim*-Intel FPGA Starter Edition # Number of seat licenses is 1 # License Expires 03-Feb-2024 # FEATURE END ################################################################################ # FEATURE START # This is license file for Questasim*-Intel FPGA Starter Edition # Number of seat licenses is 1 # License Expires 03-Feb-2024 # FEATURE END ################################################################################ # FEATURE START # This is license file for Questasim*-Intel FPGA Starter Edition # Number of seat licenses is 1 # License Expires 03-Feb-2024 # FEATURE END ################################################################################ # End of Intel Corporation Software and/or Intellectual Property License File. Issued 02/03/2023 Re: Has anyone succeeded running Questa Starter with license file? I have the same issue, the license file sent to me also has no SERVER line, no FEATURE line and the 'activation key' I can see in the online portal doesn't appear in the file, in fact there's nothing in there apart from commented-out lines so I'm quite sure we're getting totally blank license files. Is there anything anyone's found which works? Is there a template license file I can fix up with my own data and try? I thought for a while this was probably my fault and I was missing something but now I'm fairly sure that it's just the license portal mailing out a blank license.
