Why does the Qsys DMA controller not work correctly for byte writes?

Description

An issue has been identified with the Qsys DMA controller where byte writes do not work correctly if the hardware of the core is configured to only support byte accesses from the Qsys configuration.

To work around this issue, perform a software reset of the DMA controller before operation.  Alternatively ensure that the DMA controller has Byte, Half Word and Word support enabled in the hardware.

This problem will be fixed in a future version of the Quartus® II software.
