Why do pin location assignments shown in the Pin Planner not match the pin locations in the Fitter report?

Description

Pin locations in the Quartus® II Fitter report may not match pin location assignments in the Pin Planner if your design uses Incremental Compilation. If you preserve the placement of a partition which includes pin locations, later compilations use the pin locations from the preserved partition instead of any different pin location assignments you make in the Pin Planner.

Resolution

To resolve the mismatch, perform one of the following:

• Change the Fitter Preservation Level of the partition to Netlist Only
• Change the Netlist Type of the partition to Source File or Post-Synthesis
• Change your pin location assignments to match the preserved partition
