Why are multiple quartus_sh.exe processes running even after I close the Quartus II software?
Description
Due to a problem with the Quartus® II software versions 9.1 and earlier, you may observe multiple quartus_sh.exe processes running even after the Quartus II software has been closed. The problem is related to the TalkBack feature in the Quartus II software which collects design meta-data and sends it to Altera®.
To work around this problem, you can disable the TalkBack feature by one of the following methods. Note that disabling the TalkBack feature may disable other Quartus II features:
- From the Windows command line:
- Execute
<Quartus installation path>\bin\tb2_install.exe - Disable the Enable sending TalkBack data to Altera option
- Click OK to save your changes
- From the Quartus II GUI:
- On the Tools menu, select Options
- In the Options window, select the Internet Connectivity category
- In the Internet Connectivity dialog window, click the TalkBack Options button
- In the TalkBack Options window, disable the Turn on the Quartus II software TalkBack feature option
- Click OK to save your changes
This problem is fixed beginning with the Quartus II software version 9.1 SP1.
