Why am I unable to use the eq[] port when instantiating the LPM_COUNTER using the MegaWizard® Plug-In Manager? (MAX PLUS® II)

Description

The LPM_COUNTER declaration in the MAX PLUS® II Help topics shows an optional eq[] port. It also mentions that this port is only available for Altera hardware description language (AHDL). This port is no longer supported in the MegaWizard Plug-In Manager. However, the port is still listed in the AHDL declaration for backward compatibility with older AHDL designs. It cannot be used with any other design entry method. The eq[] port is not supported by the LPM220 standard.

Resolution

Altera advises that you do not use this port in future designs because behavioral simulation will not be possible.
