What affect does X-ray radiation have on ALTERA devices?

Description

For general testing purposes, inspecting printed circuit boards (PCBs) with X-rays will not harm Altera devices. This applies to SRAM-, EPROM-, EEPROM-, and Flash-based devices. For example, an X-ray inspection of solder connections on a PCB with a ball-grid array (BGA) package will not damage the Altera device.

Altera has performed internal studies concerning x-ray radiation and results indicate that units introduced to x-rays of 100KV and 75 KV were functionally good up to 10⁵ roentgen of exposure. Typical exposure level during x-ray inspection is < 1000 Roentgen.
