Description

You may get the following error when you install the Modelsim^®-Altera^® simulator version 5.8c over an existing version:

If you want to install the software in a directory that contains another version of the Modelsim simulator, Altera strongly recommends you first uninstall the previous version using the following steps:

1. Using Add/Remove Programs from the Windows Control Panel, uninstall the Modelsim-Altera software
2. Restart Windows (required if you have previously installed drivers for the Hardware key)
3. Install the Modelsim-Altera software

Alternately, you can install the Modelsim-Altera software into a new directory.
