How to realize 1000Mbps Ethernet on Cyclone III?

Greetings.

I want to realize 1000Mbps Ethernet transfer on Cyclone III and 88E1111.

Could I connect these two chip directly? OR should I need to use some other

MAC/PCS chip to convert the signal between them?

    No, use Triple Speed Ethernet core and 88E1111 PHY. Check if the chip is connected using RGMII or GMII.
