Expanded Capabilities for Demanding Applications
Built on Altera’s second-generation Hyperflex™ architecture, Agilex 5 D-Series devices now expand the density up to 1.6 million logic elements (LEs). The expansion devices also provide additional external memory interfaces versus the previous largest density device, while increasing the speed for each DDR5 interface up to 5,600 MT/s, and LPDDR5 interface up to 5,500 MT/s, 25% faster than previous specifications. These enhancements enable designers to meet the requirements in applications such as:
- Reducing latency in data processing for AI edge inference
- Increasing capacity in multi-band radios for 5G/6G wireless networks
- Increasing memory bandwidth for 4K/8K video processing in broadcast, medical, and industrial automation
- Increasing I/O interface bandwidth for high-performance test equipment
Integrated AI Acceleration
Agilex 5 FPGAs and SoCs are the industry’s first FPGA family to feature AI Tensor blocks infused throughout the logic fabric along with traditional DSP capabilities. These new Agilex 5 D-Series devices can deliver up to 152.6 peak INT8 TOPS performance. Together with Altera’s FPGA AI Suite software, developers can convert AI models from popular frameworks into optimized inference IP using a push-button flow.
Security and Reliability
Robust security is central to the hardware. All Agilex 5 D-Series FPGAs and SoCs include the Secure Device Manager (SDM) with post-quantum cryptography (PQC) secure boot, bitstream encryption, authentication, physically unclonable function (PUF) key storage, and anti-tamper protections. This comprehensive Security suite gives our customers the ability to future-proof their designs for current as well as future post-quantum threat vectors.

Altera is shipping multiple variants of all Agilex family members in production.
