Why is the Netlist Viewer not updated after the design has been modified and recompiled?

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software version 13.1 and later, the Netlist Viewer may not be updated after a design is modified and recompiled. This problem may occur when the Netlist Viewer is already open and the design is recompiled by clicking on Fitter (Place & Route) in the Tasks pane. 

Resolution

To work around this problem, perform one of the following actions:

• Close the Netlist Viewer before recompiling the design
• Recompile the design using the Start Compilation button or go to Processing in the Quartus II menu and select Start and then click on Start Fitter.

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Quartus II software.
